Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to score a of 10 at an Olympic contest. Bela Karolyi, later Romanian gymnastics coach, discovered Comaneci when she was just 6 years old. She first competed at the championships for juniors from Romania in 1969, she was 13th. In 1970, she the Romanian gymnast won. Three gold medals were awarded in her first competition at a junior Olympic meet in 1972 for communist bloc countries. The following year, 1973 as well as 1974 she won the junior champion in all-round competitions. At her first competition as a senior, in 1975 she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva, a five-time European champion, winning four gold medals and one silver. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first woman to perform a backward double salto as an unmounting from uneven bars that are parallel. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. She started her career in the entertainment industry during her teenage years performing as an ice skating duo along with her sibling Nina Wayne for the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol was a professional in the entertainment business when she was a teenager. She started her career as a figure skater, performing alongside her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show called Ice Capades. Ice Capades featured performances of skating on ice with actors.
