Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th 20th, 1980) is an American actress, singer and dancer. Her early roles on Broadway include roles in the productions Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford grew up in a world of the majority of her career collaborating with acclaimed actors, directors, and stage performers across film and television and she has continued to collaborate with award-winning actors on numerous new projects in the pipeline. Ashford's upcoming production will be an exclusive Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show is set to premiere on November 22nd and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently working in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is a Hulu Original, the film will be released on Disney DTC's digital platforms. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway in the month of March 2023 where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is taking place at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford has acted as Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon an incident that took place in the United States, involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other major characters. Ashford appeared for two seasons in the CBS show that was a huge success, B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie on You Can't Take It with You. Other Broadway appearances for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, featuring George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as her role as Lauren on Kinky Boots. For this performance she received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
